What to Expect
Your first visit will be scheduled as a 45 to 50 minute ‘session hour’ in which you will have a chance to discuss your concerns and issues. Your therapist or coach will also collect some health history and family history information from you as well as answer any questions you may have about their methods, style, and approach. This first visit is a good time for you to get a sense of how it might feel for you to do some of your important therapeutic work here with Christina or Dave. The two of you will also discuss a plan for moving forward, including frequency of visits, possible duration of treatment, and any financial arrangements that may be needed. It is quite common to start your therapy with an expectation of weekly sessions. This frequency might increase during a time of extreme emotional distress and might decrease gradually over time or if finances or other circumstances necessitate it.
